SEAN’s Family ask for Justice in Cleveland,TX Murder

[HOUSTON, TX]On Wednesday May 31, at 8:30 am at the San Jacinto County Criminal Court House ( 1 State Highway 150 Coldspring, TX 77331) the Family of Sean Paul and FIEL Spokespeople to bring awareness to their case and ask for fairness in the process.

Sean’s mother Karla:

As parents of SeanPaul we ask for help from the community and the media so that justice be done, that the murderer. Joshua Escobar without any remorse and
in cold blood took the life of our firstborn son. Joshua is enjoying his freedom on bail that the judge approved for only $75,000. No matter
the impact it would have on our society. He is the type of person who hand not hand trembles to do what he did. He shouldn’t be released so that can damage another family again. This time he took our firstborn SeanPaul without tempting his heart for something that is not worth it. We are suffering not only the pain of losing our son but also impotence at knowing he’s free on such low bail when other people are in prison with much higher bail without having killed. We demand changes in the
Court, that the death of our son is not another case of injustice. We ask all your support to the community to the media to the courts we want justice for SEAN PAUL. We are and will be your voice until justice is done!!

Bengie Sean”s Aunt:
As the aunt and a family member of Sean Paul Velasquez, I would like to see a change in the court system. As we see everywhere we know that Hispanics are
not treated fairly, and we need to see that to change. Texas has a large population of Hispanics, and we need to see everyone treated fairly. We would like tosee diversity and change in the court system. We want San Jacinto County to know that we know our rights, and we will stand and speak up for them. We are
asking that the death of Sean Paul Velasquez is not just another case number on their docket. We want the DA to represent the victim and the family with dignity and good ethics. We want to feel like our family member actually matters to those representing him as much as he mattered to us.

  • We want to bare witness in every single step of the way until we get Justice for Sean.
  • We just want justice for Sean. As the Latino community we have grown a lot in this city and we deserve the same attention because we pay taxes and we elect all levels of government including the judges.
  • We will remain united as a community and Sean’s case will unite us even further in justice for our community. Continuaremos hasta el final unidos como comunidad para que esto no vuelva a suceder y el Caso de Sean nos unirá más para la justicia de nuestra comunidad.
  • The Velasquez family wants to bring awareness to the San Jacinto County residents that the judges they voted for, are lowering bonds for murder suspects.
  • Our judicial/ court system needs to do a better job keeping criminals in jail, and not just giving them a slap in the hand for the crimes committed.
  • We are aware that the court and DA if focusing on the other major cases, with the recent shooting of Oropeza. We would like to make sure the prosecution is spending enough time with the details of this case as well.
  • With San Jacinto County limited on DA’s we would like to request a change of venue.
  • We are a Hispanic family, and US citizens in this county and we ask that the prosecution do their best in representing the victims and their families.

As FIEL

  • We do not want the Oropeza case to cloud any other case in this court, and we will make sure to be vigilant to ensure that we have financial resources for the prosecutor’s office so that they can bring the cases to full investigations.
  • We have legitimate questions about whether the Judge is the right person to handle the case since the judge’s son previously went through the same thing where he murdered another person and we don’t want that to influence his decisions that are going to be made very lightly.
  • As a growing population we want a FAIR jury that is represented by women of color to show the diversity of our community as it looks today.
  • SHERIFF’S MEETING AGAINST IMMIGRANTS in this county after the tragic event with the Oropeza Case, we do not want it to be politicized and create a witch hunt against immigrants, we do want resources to be used to expedite processes and bring justice to these families in need
