"In the last few weeks we have been bombarded with a sleuth of anti-immigrant rhetoric. From many levels of government we have seen a lot of hateful rhetoric being spewed at the immigrant community in an effort to move anti immigrant voters to the polls. Roy Morales is a clear example of this opportunism. He thinks that by pandering to peoples’s anti immigrant sentiment he will get the support he so desperately needs. What folks like him don’t take into account is that words have consequences and they may be leaving a long legacy of hate in their path. We ask all elected officials to condemn these actions and make sure that they continue to remind all people in our city that they are welcomed and respected.
