FIEL STATEMENT 5th CIRCUIT HALTS SB4

[HOUSTON, TX] On Tuesday March 19 at 10pm CST the 5th Circuit Court of appeals halted TEXAS’ SB4 giving no explanation. FIEL spokespeople are available for comment

“In an unconventional procedural mandate the 5th Circuit Court of appeals has temporarily halted SB4. A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday March 20 2024 in New Orleans. We are once again riding this roller coaster of legal process whch have played out in a rapid but unconventional way. Once arguments are heard there is no telling when the court will decide or what they will decide. What we do know is that as of tonight SB4 is halted. We will continue to prepare our community for whatever may come next. " – Cesar Espinosa FIEL Executive Director
