STATEMENT ON SUPREME COURT RULING RE BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP EO
[HOUSTON, TX] On Friday June 27th the Supreme Court issued a ruling that directly affects the birthright citizenship case.
“On Friday June 27 the Supreme Court dealt a devastating blow to our democracy. In a 6-3 decision, they stated that Judges can no longer issue nationwid injunctions. Although they did NOT issue a decision on the constitutionality of birthright citizenship this move affects this case immensely.. Today’s decision pushes this executive order to go into effect within the next 30 days. This will bring more uncertainty to the immigrant community but will also affect courts by making so that individuals will have to sue on a one-to-one basis or establish class action lawsuitsto be spared from unconstitutional executive actions.
