WE NEED CLARITY IS HPD WORKING WITH ICE?
[HOUSTON, TX] On Tuesday, October 14, at 1:30pm on the north steps of Houston City Hall (901 Bagby Houston, TX 77002) Emmanuel’s family, community members and FIEL spokespeople will gather to give statement before walking into city hall to talk about this very appalling case.
On Saturday October 4 at approximately 3 PM Emmanuel was at the corner of Clay and Hemptead Rd selling fruit with his mom Maria. Emmanuel asked to go to the restroom, but unfortunately, Ms Maria was busy tending to a customer. A few minutes later, Maria turned back around in the last direction where she had seen Emanuel. He was nowhere to be seen. Upon a frantic search, Maria called HPD.
” We need HPD and the Mayor of Houston to show true leadership and do everything in their power to reunite Emmanuel and his mother once and for ALL. HPD is responsible for this mess and they cannot just brush it off while a family in our community faces one of the most challenging times in their lives. We want ot make it clear that this “shelter” Emmanuel is in is a detention center for unaccompanied youth, contracted by the federal government.
