Created in 2023, the FIEL Community Fundraiser is an opportunity to bring community together to honor our roots while supporting local BIPOC artists, artisans and small-business owners.

Our mission is to empower these communities who contribute to the beautiful diversity of Houston by providing a safe space to share their talent.

In 2025, FIEL’s 2nd Annual Community fundraiser will center around the photojournalism exhibition Through Her Lens: The State of the Country, supporting local women BIPOC photographers.

While enjoying the exhibition, vendor market and creative performances, attendees will be also be supporting the many communities that FIEL serves as all proceeds are directly donated.

FIEL (Immigrant Families and Students in the Fight) is an immigrant led civil rights organization who advocates for just laws for immigrant youth, their families, access to higher education for all people regardless of immigration status & access to justice for our community.

We at FIEL believe in the American DREAM. We believe that it is in this fundamental principle in which we can build upon and better the lives of all people in the United States. We believe in social justice and in civic participation to make these goals to be achieved.

The United States is a country built by immigrants. It is a country with much diversity and culture. Each aspect of American culture is influenced by immigrants. It is for this reason that we believe that immigrants are essential to every aspect of U.S. Culture. Further, we believe that all students are entitled to an education. It is for this reason that we push for laws that benefit students to make education accessible to all regardless of social economic status or immigration status.

We also believe in justice for our community no matter their circumstances. We fiercely advocate for our community to guide them in the challenges they face in their daily lives, whether it is the fight for comprehensive immigration reform, housing or disaster recovery.

Join us for a day of community and visual storytelling centered around the perspectives of BIPOC women photojournalists as they document life, resistance, and resilience in America. “Through Her Eyes: The State of the Country” is an intimate exhibition exploring the intersections of identity, immigration, and activism in the face of a shifting political climate.

This event features striking documentary photography, an artist panel with Q&A, community conversation, and live creative performances by local BIPOC artists. The gallery will spotlight themes including intersectionality in everyday life, immigrant contributions, and the lived realities of marginalized communities, especially during this time when minorities are being targeted.
