HB 1403/SB 1528
Currently immigrant students can continue their education and pay instate tuition because of House Bill 1403 (Author: Rick Noriega) which was passed by the legislature in 2001.
Only 11 states allow high school students to continue a postsecondary education under certain requirements:
v Have graduated from a public or private high school or received the equivalent of a high school diploma or GED in the state.
v Have resided in the state for at least three years since the person graduated form high school or received the equivalent of a high school diploma
v Provide to the institution an affidavit stating that the student will apply for residency as soon as he/she is able to
