DREANERS AND IMMIGRANTS GATHER TO WATCH SOTU
[Houston, TX] On Tuesday January 30, 2018 at 8:00pm CST at FIEL HQ (6610 Harwin #214 Houston, TX 77036) DREAMers, immigrants and Community leaders will gather to watch the State of the Union. Stories are available and FIEL spokespeople will be available for comment,
On September 5th, 2017. The Trump administration ended the DACA program, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which offered protection from deportation to Dreamers. The announcement, which was made by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, received outcry from those affected and those sympathetic to this group of undocumented immigrants. In the last days there have been talks of new immigration policy being considered for debate. We await negotiations but caution that our community cannot wait any longer.. Families are being separated everyday and DREAMers live in the limbo of not being able to be certain of their future in the U.S.
" It is important that our community gathers as we listen to what the President of the U.S. has to say. We hope that we may hear concrete plans that will resolve the immigration issue in a way that is beneficial for all. It is important to point out that 86% of Americans support a pathway to citizenship for DREAMers." -Cesar Espinosa Executive Director FIEL
