OMNIBUS BILL WITH NO DREAM ACT

CONGRESS & THE PRESIDENT CONTINUE TO PLAY WITH OUR LIVES

[Houston, TX] On Friday March 23. 2018 president Trump signed an Omnibus Bill which included $1.6 Billiom in Border Wall funding but NO DREAM ACT. FIEL spokespeople are available for comment.

After much rhetoric and much negotiating congress and the President agreed on an omnibus bill which included funding for many things including $1.6 billion for the border wall which the President Trump said it was a first good step. After threatening to veto Trump signed this omnibus bill but not without blaming his opposing party for not acting on DACA.

" We are deeply disappointed that once again Congress and the President have failed in protecting DREAMers and their families. It is truly disturbing that our nation’s President has blamed others for the situation which he created. DACA has protected 800,000 young people form deportation for the last 6 years. It is truly a shame that the President continues to use DREAMers as a bargaining ship to push for his own hateful and discriminatory agenda. Congress has further turned its back on dreamers by not standing up to the President and doing the right thing for immigrant and their families. Our community is gravely suffering under this administration which is why we need solutions for all immigrants as any downfall in the immigrant community can have grave consequences for communities at large in the U.S. " -Cesar Espinosa Executive Director FIEL
