DIAMOND ALVAREZ FAMILY ANNOUNCES PLANS TO CONTINUE TO PUSH FOR 10% MINIMUM BAIL
[HOUSTON, TX] On Friday at 10:30am outside of the Harris County District Attorney’s office (500 Jefferson St Suite #600, Houston, TX 77002) Diamond Alvarez’ family and FIEL Houston representatives will gather to ask for accountability and to announce plans to continue to push for 10% minimums from bails bonds companies.
"Last month the bond committee for Harris County met to require bails bonds companies to institute a 10% minimum on their clients. In an effort to keep hardened criminals out who have been getting off on payment plans and as little as 1%. Many families believe this is unjust and we must place higher standards in these situation. During last month’s vote we were taken by surprise that the DA’s office abstained from voting. We want to ask why and announce plans to continue to organize and hold all parties accountable to get what the community wants. We want to make sure that we continue to advocate for families and make sure their voices are heard" – Cesar Espinosa FIEL Executive Director
