WOMAN DEMANDS JUSTICE AFTER BEING MAULED BY HCSO DOG

[HOUSTON, TX]On Friday June 17 2022 at 11:00am at 4721 Charwon St Houston, TX 77093 FIEL will join Ms Diana and attorney Artemio Muniz as they file a lawsuit against the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The affected family, the attorneys and FIEL spokespeople will be available for comment.

Two years ago Ms Diana was sleeping outside in a makeshift room when in the middle of the night she was the victim of a vicious attack by a Harris County Canine Unit. After a long day of work Ms Diana had come home after making a large food order at her job. She came into her ‘private room’ outside of the main house on her property in an effort not to disturb her children… That is when out of nowhere she was attacked by a HCSO dog. During a manhunt the HCSO released a canine into Ms Diana’s room without a single warning. She was viciously mauled by the dog and when the officers found out she was not the person they were looking for they recalled the dog. The damage had been done though.

Artemio Muñiz, lawyer and member of legal team representing Maria Guardado Melgar says “The Harris County Sheriff’s blatant coverup of the K9 vicious attack on Maria, which violated her civil rights, and the purposeful hiding of requested documents, once again shows the Sheriff’s Department disgusting practice of undermining its own trust with the Houston community. We will not stop until we have the truth. “

Maria quote “I was terrorized, my family was terrorized, my rights were violated, I was attacked by the police dog in my own room while I was sleeping and the police are hiding the truth. “

"It is disheartening that two years later the HCSO refuses to take accountability for their actions. Since the attack Ms Diana has not been able to work to support her family. We demand an answer which is why we are supporting Ms Diana and her Attorney Artemio Muniz in the fight for justice. " – Cesar Espinosa FIEL Executive Director
