STATEMENT ON SCOTUS RULING ON REMAIN IN MEXICO POLICY 11:30AM OVER ZOOM

[HOUSTON, TX]On Thursday June 30, 2022 at 11:30 am over ZOOM FIEL Executive Director Cesar Espinosa will be providing comment on the SCOTUS decision regarding Remain in Mexico. We will be joined by an affected person.

"We were surprised this morning to hear about the SCOTUS decision on the "Remain in Mexico". What is important to point out is that the Supreme Court did not rule on the constitutionality of the remain in Mexico Policy but rather the actions that the Biden Administration took in order to end this program. There will still be a lot of complexities that the 5000 people currently waiting in the U.S./ Mexico Border will have to go through. This is not the end of the road for these immigrants but rather the beginning of a long legal process that they will now have to go through. The end all to this current situation is that we pass an immigration reform that will make sense for the US " – Cesar Espinosa FIEL Executive Director
