  3. Good evening my name is Jermaine Philps and my co-worker Carla Martinez told me she got in contact with Cesar Espinosa about coming and speaking to the youth in our program this Saturday, 11/14/15. I wanted to touch base with you and get a little more clarity on what you will be discussing, share a little more about our class, the demographic, and see how we can assist. Thanks and look forward to working with you!

  7. Hello,
My name is Emilana Moreno and I am a bilingual teachers aid at Aldine ISD at Houston Academy. The reason for me contacting you is because I’ve seen a lot of my students of Latino heritage very discouraged with the current events within government and the economy.
I’ve noticed that my students behaviors and grades have diminished, their attitudes towards each other has become increasingly violent, The motivation for learning is not the same anymore. Some of my students have even said that what they do now doesn’t even matter because they will be stuck in the same circumstances as their parents.
Most of my students didn’t even know all of my previous job experience. Basically, I gave up a well-paying job to go and do something that I actually love to do which is teaching. Once they found out about this they continually ask me questions about what I used to do, who I’ve met, and how hard it was for me to get there. I’ve noticed that they began seeing me as a role model but I cannot do this alone. I’m hoping to get somebody more inspiring who has also been brought up in these types of circumstances and not only surpassed them, but that they have also broken down barriers.
I am currently preparing an intervention along with other teachers within the school. I will be spearheading the motivational speech and we will be getting together with small groups of Latino students in order to motivate them and inspire them to achieve what they believe is impossible, what they are being told they can not do because of who they are, and to conquer any fears they have. And 2 weeks later I still have no one who has stepped up to that challenge.
My speech includes a surprising statistic which is that only 40% of Latino students will graduate from high school half of that will go to college and less than 20% of that what even actually graduate. I need to get somebody who can inspire them more than I ever could, someone who comes from the same sort of circumstances. I hope you can be that person that stands up to the plate and offers them an unforgettable and moving experience.
If you or any other person that you know who can come and help inspire the students to succeed would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me so we can make a better future for our Latino students.

    Thanks
    Emiliana Moreno

  9. You can make a change not only with what your doing but also if you consider a new idea giving you the U.S House speaker seat in Congress. I have an idea and need FIEL support. It provides a voice not heard with our current representatives battling for power but never solving anything.
