PRESS STATEMENT ON PAXTON LAWSUIT ON DACA

[Houston, TX] On Tuesday May 1st 2018 Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that he along with 6 other states are filling a lawsuit in an effort to stop DACA. FIEL spokespeople are available for comment.

"We condemn the actions taken by Attorney General Ken Paxton by attacking undocumented youth and throwing their live sinto disarray. He said that he wanted to stop activist judges but this is a sign of an activist politician who wants to further Trump’s anti immigrant agenda. We know that the rescinding of DACA will cost the State of Texas and a country a lot of money in losses of contributions DREAMers are making. We hope that this once again returns the sense of urgency to congress and encourages the passage of a permanent solution like the DREAM Act. "- Cesar Espinosa Executive Director FIEL
