"We welcome this new change in immigration policy and know this is a good first step in fixing the backlog in our system. We have seen it in the past that these changes do ameliorate the huge backlog that exists in deportation cases. Prioritizing high risk individuals for deportations in most cases allows for families who may be entangled in our broken immigration system to continue to fight their deportations or seek immigration relief while here in the U.S. In many cases these are mixed status families where US citizen children would be affected by these measures. We consider this another ‘great step’ in the right direction and now more than ever is an opportune time to push for comprehensive immigration reform. " – Cesar Espinosa
