NON PASSAGE OF DREAM ACT IN CR

Congress and the president put more dreamers in the path of deportation

[Houston, TX] On Thursday December 21, 2017 congress voted to approve the Continuous Resolution to fund the government until January 19. The final bill version of the bill DID NOT include the DREAM Act. FIEL spokepople will be available for comment and reactions.

For over 17 years DREAMers have been advocating for the passage of the DREAM Act so secure their futures and their families future. This is another missed opportunity for congress to protect a population of young immigrants who have grown up in the U.S. and set roots in this great nation. Every day 122 dreamers loose status leaving them under the threat of deportation.
"It is truly a shame that congress has failed to protect DREAMers after President Trump chose to end the DACA program. This is truly a missed opportunity in which congress could have continued to give 800,000 dreamers status and allow them to continue to contribute to their communities and their country."- Cesra Espinosa Executive Director FIEL.
